Have boated on the main system for 13 years now, cruising all summer. I spent Oct 07 to Oct 08 on the River Great Ouse, overwintering at Ely Marina then spending the summer thoroughly exploring the 'Far East'. Returned to canals for winter 08/09, where I had a linear winter mooring in Braunston.
In April 09 pottered on Oxford to Lower Heyford, before going to Crick Show. After show I cruised to Sawley then on Trent to Torksey and Boston (lovely). Returned to Sawley then on T&M to Leek & Caldon, before continuing north to moor on Rufford Branch for winter 09/10.
Cruise 2010 was to Liverpool, Lancaster, but Leeds cancelled due to lack of water so went to Chester then up Heartbreak Hill and spent August on the Macclesfield/Peak Forest then via Stoke on Trent to Shroppie and a winter on the Llangollen at Ellesmere.
2011 went on the Montgomery, back on Llangollen then eventually to Wigan and Leeds before going down the Huddersfield Narrow thru Standedge Tunnel - after that a much needed re-paint in the autumn by Willow Boatpainting at Swanley Marina on the Llangollen, staying for winter.
2012 went slowly on Llangollen then via Shroppie, Great Haywood and Fazeley junctions and across to Stratford on Avon before doing Avon Ring. Then down to Braunston for the winter
2013 - I hope to go up the Ashby, then down GU to Thames, River Wey and back on Thames to Oxford.
Gave up work to go boating with my early retired husband. Have owned 2 narrowboats since 2000. From Spring 05 lived aboard, winter mooring different places each year and cruising 7 months a year. Am really enjoying being on board, the only downside is that I am always a distance from my children and now 8 grandchildren - all 8 years old and under!
